Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice-president as well as the highest ranking female official in the United American. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and she was a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected as San Francisco's district attorney. In 2010 she was elected Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California, from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and cannabis legalization, a path to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is most famous for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
